Sayyaf Warns Sidelining of Mujahideen to Have Negative Repercussions

KABUL - The former Afghan lawmaker and Mujahideen leader Abdul Rab Rasool Sayyaf once again warned against efforts aimed at sidelining of the Mujahideen from the political and other affairs of the country.
Speaking during a ceremony in Kabul, Sayyaf said Mujahideen are like the armor vests and emphasized that the sidelining of the Mujahideen will have negative repercussions and will encourage the enemy to carry out more destructive activities like jackals.
Sayyaf further added that the country and the nation are not only facing the menace of terrorism and extremism but corruption and debauchery also remains as one of the key issues threatening the country.
He warned that the current fight will not yield positive results unless the nation unites to fight the corruption and growing debauchery.
In other parts of his speech, he expressed regarding the efforts to spark differences among the people through ethnic divisions and other means.
He said preferring a specific ethnic group or language is not a crime but using them to spark divisions is a major sin and crime.
Sayyaf also called on Taliban to join peace process and keep their weapons and ammunition for the defense of the country.
Sayyaf is one of the most influential jihadi leaders and has been harshly criticizing the Taliban group for their insurgency activities, calling their so called jihad as a move against the principles of Islam. (KP)
