Govt. Takes Tangible Steps to Eradicate Corruption: Danish

KABUL - Second Vice President Sarwar Danesh has discussed fight against corruption and implementation of national anti-corruption strategy during a meeting with US Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction (SIGAR) John Sipko at his office, a media report said on Tuesday.
Danish thanked the US for its support with Afghan government in fight against corruption and said the unity government at its capacity always tried to peruse the reports of SIGAR regarding alleged corruption in government institutions.
Calling establishing high council of rule of law, justice and judicial center and approval of national strategy on fighting corruption, three main steps of the government on counter-corruption over the last year, adding capacity building on these three sections was a serious need.
During the meeting, SIGAR’s John Sipko assured he is ready to cooperate with the government of Afghanistan to implement national strategy on fighting corruption. He added SIGAR considered to review the strategy and share its suggestions on its implementation with the government.

Welcoming SIGAR’s step to review the national strategy on fighting corruption, VP Danesh stressed on acceleration of the process, adding this could also be a cooperation with the government and people of Afghanistan.  (Pajhwok)
