‘Dostum to Return Home after Medical Check-Up’

BRUSSELS - Vice-President Abdul Rashid Dostum will return to Afghanistan after his medical checks-up in Turkey, a NATO official said on Thursday.
The alliance official, who wished anonymity, told reporters on the sidelines of the defense ministerial meeting of the allies in Brussels that Dostum’s health condition was being monitored and he would return to his country after the treatment.
He did not go into further details.
The NATO official insisted on transparent elections, strong campaign against corruption and equipping of the Afghan forces. He said NATO member countries were committed to their pledges with Afghanistan.
Though the security situation in Afghanistan was threatening, but the Afghan forces had the ability to control the situation and the international community was standing beside them.
Dostum left for Turkey in May for medical treatment amid accusations he ordered his private guards to torture and rape a political rival, Ahmad Ishchi. (Pajhwok)
