Most Area of Dasht-I-Archi District under Taliban Control: Saadi

KUNDUZ CITY - Seventy-five percent of Dasht-i-Archi district’s territory in northern Kunduz province has been under the Taliban control and the group established their bases there, an official said on Sunday.
District Chief Nasruddin Saadi claimed during an exclusive interview with Pajhwok Afghan News around 4,000 Taliban had been active in the district.
He said the number of security forces in Dasht-i-Arch was small and there was need for the deployment of more security forces.
Tribal elder Farid Ahmad said the Taliban had besieged all government facilities in the district. “The security situation is terrible the Taliban had surrounded government offices and employees could not attend their offices and most of the time they don’t go there,” he said.
Another tribal elder Haji Naeem said security situation was not good in the province and people have been facing huge problems.
“People cannot move freely in the city, the government should pay attention to the situation otherwise the district may fall,” he believed.
The residents of the district held similar views and said the Unity Government was informed about the critical situation of the province but no positive response was received.
Saadi demanded the government to address the security challenges of Dasht-i-Archi Kunduz. (Pajhwok)
