KABUL - Presidential Palace says Ghani and the Pakistani delegation talked about ways to prevent terrorist activities in the region.
President Ashraf Ghani on Saturday met with a Pakistani delegation led by Pakistan’s National Security Adviser Nasser Khan Janjua and discussed the Afghan government’s peace offer to the Taliban, the Presidential Palace said in a statement.
Ghani has also officially invited Pakistani Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi to visit Kabul.
Soon after Saturday’s meeting, Ghani tweeted: “Today, I received Pakistani NSA at Dilkusha palace. As a follow up to Kabul Process, I have extended an official invitation to Pakistani Prime Minister to visit Afghanistan. This is to initiate state to state comprehensive dialogue.”
Meanwhile, the Presidential Palace’s statement said Ghani and Janjua on Saturday discussed starting comprehensive talks with Islamabad.
According to the statement, the two sides also discussed the importance of connection and regional cooperation particularly between the two countries in a campaign against crime and activities of terrorist networks. They also discussed ways to stop these activities from happening.
Last month, Ghani made a peace offer to the Taliban and also motioned for official talks with Pakistan.
