Dostum, Rabbani Discuss Elections, Political Coalition in Turkey Meeting

ANKARA - The leaders of Jamiat-e-Islami and Junbish-e-Millie parties Salahuddin Rabbani and General Abdul Rashid Dostum met in Ankara Turkey to discuss the future plans regarding the political coalition and upcoming parliamentary and presidential elections.
According to an official statement, the top leaders of the two parties also discussed the latest political and security developments in the country.
The statement further added that the security situation of the country specifically the northern provinces security was discussed during but no further information has been given in this regard.
This comes as efforts are underway to pave the way for the return of Gen. Dostum from Turkey.
Speaking during a press conference with the Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım last week, the Chief Executive of the Unity Government Abdullah Abdullah said negotiations were made in this regard during his meeting with the Turkish Prime Minister.
Without disclosing further information, Abdullah told reporters that Mr. Yıldırım will hold more talks in this regard during his meeting President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani.
Dostum is currently residing in Turkey and is accused of grave human rights violations, including a sexual assault and kidnapping of ex-Jawzjan governor Ahmad Ischi by his guards, a charge which he and his office have repeatedly rejected.
Dostum left the country for Turkey few months earlier amid ongoing controversies regarding his alleged involvement in the sexual abuse of Ishchi.
A spokesman for Junbish-e-Millie party Kanishka Turkistani earlier this year had said that the health condition of Gen. Dostum has improved, his medical treatment has concluded along with some other works in Turkey, and he will return to the country soon as there are no barriers available at the moment for his return.
