Danish, Mohaqiq Urge Afghans to Register as Voters

KABUL - Vice president Sarwar Danish and second deputy chief executive officer Mohammad Mohaqiq on Sunday welcomed the official launch of the voter’s registration process.
The two leaders, who registered themselves as voters, urged the Afghans to fully participate in the forthcoming parliamentary and district council elections slated for Oct. 20 this year.
On Saturday, the voter’s registration process was officially launched and President Ashraf Ghani and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dr. Abdullah Abdullah were the first who registered their names.
The voter’s registration process began in provincial capitals on Saturday. However, some experts believe the process could not be completed ahead of the election date.
Danish registered his name at the Kabul voter registration center. He was accompanied by other high government officials.
On the occasion, the VP said participation in elections was people’s right and the best and effective way to run the country.
He added: “In a country like Afghanistan, one of the ways through which we can achieve our goals is elections.”
On the other hand, Mohaqiq also urged all people to participate in the voter’s registration process for the sake of a better future. He asked people to go to nearby voter registration centers and register themselves. (Pajhwok)
