Take Advantage of Ghani’s Offer, US Tells Taliban

KABUL - United States national security advisor (NSA) John Bolton has said the Taliban could not win on the battlefield and should join the Afghan government-initiated peace process.
In an interview with the US media in Washington Bolton said they would never allow the Taliban to take over in Afghanistan and target the US from there.
He said more works were needed to strength the Afghan defense and security forces in order to end the decades-old conflict.
To a question about US talks with Taliban, Bolton said the Afghan government itself should hold talks with the rebels. “But it should be considered that Afghan government and Taliban have the willingness for peace talks.”
Meanwhile, US Central Command chief Gen Joseph Votal said his country would keep pressure on the Taliban until they arrive at the negotiating table.
He made these remarks during a visit to the capital of Tajikistan: “I would send a message to the Taliban that they cannot win the war.”
Votal asked the Taliban to take advantage of President Ghani’s offer and join the reconciliation process.  (Pajhwok)
