UN,IEC and Govt.  to Be Responsible for MP’s Death

KABUL - The husband of unseated female lawmaker SaminBarakzai, who continued her hunger strike for the eighth consecutive day, said on Sunday the United Nations, the Independent Election Commission ('IEC) and the Afghan government would be responsible for his spouse's death.
Barakzai was among nine sitting Wolesi Jirga members who were disqualified by the election commission, which declared as successful as many candidates previously certified as having lost the parliamentary polls.

Hailing from western Herat province, female lawmaker SaminBarakzai, unseated by the Independent Election Commission (IEC) in August, continued her fast for the eighth consecutive day on Sunday.
She went on hunger strike on October 2 in front of the Wolesi Jirga, warning she would observe the fast unto death or her reinstatement as a parliamentarian.

Although it was the eighth day of the strike of Barakzai, the Afghan government did not meet the lawmaker's demand, Samin's spouse Mohammad Barakzai told Pajhwok Afghan News.
The public health ministry officials on Saturday said Barkzai would face serious kidney and stomach problems if continued the strike for a day more.

Since Barakzai did not allow the use of serum and checkup of her blood pressure, possibly an ulcer would appear in her stomach, deputy health minister, Nadira Hayat, had said soon after visiting the parliamentarian.
