Herat Land Transport  Revenue up by 40pc

HERAT CITY - The revenue from land transport in western Herat province has surged by 40 percent, an official said on Thursday.
Transport Department Director Najebullah Muradi told Pajhwok Afghan News 61 million afghanis had been collected in revenue from the land transport during the past two months compared to 44 million afghanis during the same period last year.
He linked the revenue surge due to anti-corruption efforts and hiring of professional individuals to the applicants section.
Provincial Council member Wakeel Ahmad Kurokhi said efforts so far made to eradicate corruption had not been enough and more efforts were needed in this regard.
Governor’s spokesman Jelani Farhad said an effective campaign against corruption had been ongoing and that reforms in the local transportation in Herat had resulted in increased revenue.
He said reforms in the transport department and removal of corrupt individuals had resulted in transparency and effusiveness.
The Heart’s land transport revenue surges after five employees of the Transport Department were removed as directed by the president recently.(Pajhwok)
