US Confirms Death of Daesh Leader in Afghanistan

KABUL - The US military has confirmed the killing of the Islamic State (Daesh) leader in Afghanistan during a coalition airstrike.
The air raid was conducted in eastern Nangarhar province on Aug. 25, killing Abu Saad Orakzai, the US military said in a statement on Sunday.
Gen. Scott Miller, who took command of the NATO-led Resolute Support mission yesterday, said: "America and his allies are in Afghanistan to maintain pressure on trans-regional terrorists attempting to plot, resource and direct attacks from here.”
Orakzai was killed along with 10 other fighters from the terrorist group in the airstrike. Provincial officials say Afghan and coalition forces carried out the strike based on a tip-off from the Afghan spy service. (Pajhwok)
