Japan Donates $2.7m for  Repatriation of Refugees

KABUL - The Japanese government has promised a donation of $2.7 million to support the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees’ repatriation programme.
The donation was announced in a statement on Friday -- two days after Japanese Ambassador Takashi Kurai visted a UN voluntary repatriation centre in Nowshera district.
Ambassador Kurai and UN Agency Country Representative in Pakistan Ruvendrini Menikdiwela will sign an agreement in this regard on Oct 3.
During his visit to the repatriation centre at Azakhel, the ambassador interacted with refugees who got their documents processed. He was briefed on the registration process and management of the refugees.
Pakistan, hosting more than 1.4m registered Afghan refugees and 850,000 Afghan Citizens Card-holders, has already extended their stay for nine months till June 2019. (Pajhwok)
