Farah’s Voters List, Biometric Devices Destroyed in Chopper Crash

KABUL - Independent Election Commission (IEC) chief in Farah Mohammad Monir Parsa said Saturday the helicopter that crashed this week, claiming the lives of about 27 people, had also been carrying parliamentary ballot boxes from Farah.
Parsa also claimed that several biometric devices were destroyed in the crash.
Parsa said that seven boxes of election sensitive materials were destroyed.
Meanwhile, An IEC official in Kabul rejected claims  ballot boxes had been destroyed but said the provincial voters list and all biometric devices had been destroyed in the helicopter crash on Wednesday.
The official said that one of the boxes contained parliamentary election’s results and in the six others biometric devices were placed and all of them were destroyed.
On Wednesday a military helicopter crashed in Anar Dara district of Farah province.
According to 207 Zafar Military Corps spokesman Najibullah Najibi, two choppers had been flying together when the one crashed.
Najibi said at least 20 people were on board the chopper at the time of the crash including Farah provincial council members and Zafar Military Corps officials.
Najibi said there were no survivors. (Tolo news)
