Pakistan’s Cement Exports to Afghanistan Decline

Pakistan’s Cement Exports to Afghanistan Decline

ISALAMABAD - Pakistan’s cement exports to Afghanistan fell to 24 percent this year from more than 54 percent in 2007, a media report says.
The decline was linked to Kabul’s decision on opening its doors to other countries, including Iran, which has a massive cement production capacity.
Seeking anti-dumping duty on Iranian cement, Pakistani manufacturers have asked the government to slash the production cost, according to Independent News Pakistan.
The cement industry in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces are the worst-hit by decreasing exports to the neighbouring country. Export from Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 16 percent between July 2018 and February 2019. (Pajhwok)
