German Envoy Offers to Facilitate Intra-Afghan Dialogue

KABUL - Germany’s special envoy for Afghanistan during a meeting with President Ashraf Ghani has said his country would facilitate intra-Afghan dialogue for peace.
A statement from the Presidential Palace received by Pajhwok Afghan News said President Ashraf Ghani met with Germany’s special envoy for Afghanistan and Pakistan, Markus Potzel in his office today.
Potzel said his country was ready to facilitate intra-Afghan talks for peace and said Germany was ready for any type of support regarding peace in Afghanistan.
President Ghani thanked Germany for its cooperation with Afghanistan in different areas and said the Afghan government welcomed any efforts that could help achieve peace and stability in Afghanistan.
He said Afghanistan welcomed Germany’s support to facilitate intra-Afghan peace dialogue and the Afghan government was doing everything it could to ensure peace in the country.
Two days back, Mohammad Omar Daudzai, High Peace Council (HPC) secretary, traveled to Germany and talked with German leaders the Afghan peace process.
Indonesia and Uzbekistan had also previously said they were ready to host the Afghan peace talks.  (Pajhwok)
