New British Envoy Pledges Support  to Stable, Democratic Afghanistan

KABUL - The new British Ambassador to Afghanistan, Alison Blake, has presented her credentials to President Ashraf Ghani, according to a statement on Thursday.
“I am delighted to have arrived in Afghanistan, a country rich in history and culture, with great promise and famous for its hospitality, Ambassador Blake said after a meeting with President Ghani.
“I have received a warm welcome and look forward to getting to know the country and its people,” she said.
“The UK has a lasting partnership with Afghanistan, and I look forward to working with the Afghan government and all stakeholders to help build a peaceful, stable, democratic and prosperous future for all the people of Afghanistan,” she pledged.
Ambassador Blake’s previous roles include British High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Deputy High Commissioner Islamabad and Head of Conflict Group in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. (Pajhwok)
