Pakistan-Funded Hospital  Inaugurated in Logar

KABUL - Built and equipped by Pakistan, a 100-bed Nayeb Aminullah Khan Hospital was inaugurated in central Logar province, a statement from the Pakistani Embassy in Kabul said on Wednesday
Pakistan Minister for States and Frontier Regions (SAFRON) Shehryar Khan Afridi and Afghanistan Minister for Public Health Dr. Ferozuddin Feroz and Ambassador of Pakistan Zahid Nasrullah Khan jointly inaugurated hospital in Pul-i-Alam, Logar’s capital, the statement said.
The fully equipped hospital is the second to be built by Pakistan as earlier this year in April a 200 bed state of the art hospital was also gifted to the Afghan government.
The Logar hospital has been completed at a cost of US$ 18 million and it is one of the several Pakistani projects to assist the people of Afghanistan in the health sector, the embassy statement said.
Speaking on the occasion, Afridi highlighted Pakistan’s contribution in providing quality health services to their Afghan brethren and noted that Pakistani projects worth US$ 1 billion have been completed and are playing a pivotal role in socio economic development of Afghanistan.
The Minister SAFRON conveyed that Prime Minister of Pakistan was extremely keen to extend all possible assistance to the people of Afghanistan to facilitate their travel to Pakistan as well as to promote trade between the two countries.
“In this regard work is in progress on Prime Minister’s instructions for providing 24/7 services at Torkham border and very soon this facility will be in place.”
Afridi also announced to accept the Afghan request for training of 440 doctors and allied medical staff in Pakistan, the training will commence soon after conclusion of relevant MoU.
Sheryar Afridi underscored the importance of mutually beneficial and of longstanding, friendly bilateral relations between the two counties.
Speaking earlier, Dr. Ferozuddin Feroz thanked Government and People of Pakistan for their continued support in socio economic uplift of Afghanistan.
He stated that Nayeb Aminullah hospital was a special gift of people of Pakistan for which Afghans were grateful. (Pajhwok)
