Govt Forming Inclusive Team for Taliban Talks: Sediqqi

KABUL -  Presidential spokesman Sediq Sediqqi on Thursday said progress has been made with regard to forming the government’s team to negotiate peace with the Taliban.
““We hope to complete the negotiating team in near future. This team will be concise and inclusive,” Sediqqi tweeted.
He added the Afghan government was committed to the peace process and that the Afghan people wanted the government to lead the peace process. “Ending the conflict is a top priority for the Afghan President.”
The presidential spokesman said the peace process would not overshadow the election process. “The election has its own calendar. The peace process is continuous process.”
“We have not witnessed any action from Pakistan in relation to the Afghan peace as yet. In the last 18 years, Pakistanis have always made commitments, but have never taken a step.”
However, Sediqqi said Pakistani leaders vowed in the United States to change their policies towards Afghanistan. “We hope Pakistan stops supporting the Taliban and forces the Taliban to join the peace process.”
“The Taliban's honeymoon must come to an end. Taliban leaders are staying in Qatar and Pakistan, and they continue to kill innocent people here in Afghanistan. Taliban leaders in Qatar and Pakistan are enjoying honeymoon.”
The presidential spokesman called on the United States, international allies and regional countries to put pressure on the Taliban and their leaders in Qatar to stop the war and stop the killing of innocent people. (Pajhwok)
