Afghans, Turkmens  to Set up Joint Factories

HERAT CITY - Businessmen from western Herat province and Mary region of Turkmenistan have inked an agreement on establishing three joint factories.
Jilani Farhad, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News the governor had signed a three-year economic cooperation agreement with businessmen from Mary province during his recent trip to Turkmenistan.
Based on the contract, investors of Herat and Mary provinces would establish three joint factories in Mary province.
He added it was not clear what would be produced by the joint ventures but it was expected that raw material would be transferred from Afghanistan.
Farhad said that workers of the factories would be selected jointly. Under the deal, a marble expo would be held in Turkmenistan.
Khalil Ahmad Yarmand, a chamber of commerce and industry official, hoped the export of Herat marbles to Turkmenistan would help boost the provincial economy. (Pajhwok)
