KABUL - Security officials briefed President Ghani on measures for security of mosques and public gatherings on Ashura Day.
resident Ashraf Ghani on Thursday presided over a high-level security meeting to discuss the security measures for Ashura Day and the Martyrs Week.
Second Vice President Mohammad Sarwar Danish, Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah and high-ranking security officials attended the meeting, the Presidential Palace said in a statement.
The security officials briefed the president over the measures taken to ensure the security of mosques and public gatherings during and ahead of Ashura Day.
Mr. Ghani asked security officials to work closely with the public commissions for providing better security coverage during Ashura Day that falls on Sunday. (Tolo news)
