Work Launched on 100-Bed Heart Hospital for Afghan Forces

KABUL - President Ashraf Ghani on Thursday laid down the foundation stone of a 100-bed heart diseases treatment hospital for Afghan security forces in capital Kabul.
A statement from the Presidential Palace received by Pajhwok Afghan News said President Ghani attended the hospital’s construction work inauguration ceremony at Afshar Administrative Complex of National Directorate of Security (NDS) in Kabul.
The statement quoted Ghani as saying that Afghan security forces were the country’s pride and added, “Your heart has a direct link with my heart, your heart beats for serving this country day and night. Your hearts in future will be cured inside the country.”
He directed officials concerned to encourage the company that had received the contract for building the hospital to complete its work in the stipulated two years and organs concerned should provide all required equipment.
Talking to NDS’s in charge of health services, Ghani asked him to share his suggestions regarding improving health facilities with the Presidential Palace.
Ghani said health services offered by military hospitals had been improved but there were still problems in civilian healthcare centers that should be paid attention.
About better coordination among security organs, he said, “You in the last two months proved with your efforts that you are the protectors of the system and supporters of the republic.”
He congratulated the Afghans for extending help to Afghan forces in providing a safe environment during September 28 presidential election across the country.
Pointing to efforts of Afghanistan Medical Council, Ghani said norms and standards suggested by the council should be implemented.
He said all health professionals should be issued with licenses with approval from the Health Board so people suffered no problems due low professionalism in the sector.
Habib Rahman Roshaan, in charge of NDS buildings, said that the new hospital would be built on seven acres of land in four stories.
He said the National Procurement Authority (NPA) has signed the project contract worth 357.6 million afghanis with Sefat Construction Company and the project would take three years to complete.  (Pajhwok)
