Saudi Arabia’s  Prince Turki Al-Faisal Receives One of Afghanistan’s Highest Honors

RIYADH - Prince Turki Al-Faisal, chairman of the King Faisal Center for Research and Islamic Studies, has received one of Afghanistan’s highest honors, the Ghazi Mir Bacha Khan medal, for his work to strengthen Afghan independence.
Afghan Minister of Finance, Mohammad Humayon Qayoumi, and Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Sayed Jalal Karim, made the presentation to Prince Turki, commending his efforts to support national sovereignty, and provide political, social and cultural backing for Afghanistan.
The award ceremony at the Prince Sultan bin Abdul Aziz Hall on Monday included a video of Afghan President Ashraf Ghani congratulating Prince Turki and praising his “positive role in strengthening the brotherly bond between Afghanistan and Saudi Arabia.”
“The Ghazi Mir Bacha Khan medal is a symbol of honor and admiration awarded to exceptional personalities to acknowledge their remarkable efforts on behalf of Afghanistan,” Ghani added.
During the ceremony, the Afghan envoy condemned the recent attacks on Aramco oil facilities.
Prince Turki thanked the Afghan leader for the award, and voiced his hopes for peace and stability in Afghanistan. (Arab News)
