MAZAR-I-SHARIF - A test process of filling form to obtain online passport kicked off in northern Balkh province on Tuesday, an official said.
Balkh Passport Department director Ahmadullah Hajizadah told a press conference in Mazar-i-Sharif, the provincial capital, that the examination process of filling form for online passport has been started.
He said after 20 days of the test, the official online process would be also launched.
He said through online form filling for passport, corruption would be reduced. He said the number of passport applicants had also increased in the province.
He said, “Within the first six months of last year around 6,000 people received passports but this year within 57 days nearly 9,000 individuals received passports.”
In recent weeks, around 500 people applied for passports on a daily basis, he added.
Abdul Malik, who took passport five years back but now wanted to renew it, expressed happiness over the introduction of online form filling for passport.
He said he renewed his passport within three days without paying any bribe to someone in this regard.
