KABUL - The Independent Election Commission (IEC) on Saturday said it would announce a date for announcing preliminary presidential election result today (Sunday).
IEC commissioner Auranzeb told reporters here that the IEC Secretariat had suggested announcement of the results in three weeks, but the IEC leadership rejected the idea.
He said the Secretariat would share final date for announcement of the preliminary result with the election commission leadership and finalize date for announcement of preliminary polls.
He added the IEC had been striving to produce clean result which was acceptable to all, but if during the vote count process, the number of repeatedly cast votes surged, it would make their work difficult. (Pajhwok)
