Senators Want Laghman Incident Investigated

KABUL - Meshrano Jirga or upper house of Parliament members on Sunday strongly condemned burning of two civilian vehicles by US forces in eastern Laghman province and demanded punishment for the perpetrators.
Two vehicles were reduced to ashes after US forces fired gas check bullets at them on the Kabul-Jalalabad Road in Laghman province.
Laghman Governor spokesman AsadullahDawlatzai told Pajhwok Afghan News the incident happened on Friday evening in Aziz Khan Kas area of Qarghaio district.
He added US forces fired gas check bullets at thte civilian vehicles when they did not stop after being signaled by US forces.
Senator Lotfullah Baba strongly condemned the Laghman incident as inhuman and unfortunate and said it happened on a busy highway.
He alleged in the past foreign forces killed civilians in nighttime operations in disguise of Taliban and Daesh. “But now what name they will give to this incident.”
Senator Mohammad Hasham Alokozai said the Laghman incident was an attack on all Afghans.
He said, “We call on foreign forces to respect civilians’ lives and also on President Ashraf Ghani to ask about innocent lives being taken and seriously investigate the issue.
Meshrano Jirga chairman Fazal Hadi Muslimyar termed the incident as horrific and urged President Ghani and security forces to seriously investigate it. (Pajhwok)
