India, UN to Host Meeting to Curb Drug Trade

KABUL - In association with the UN, India is hosting a 'working group meeting on precursors' to curb heroin smuggling from Afghanistan and illicit trade in precursor chemicals.
The meeting will be held on November 14-15 with the support of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime.
Paris Pact experts had met at the first meeting on precursors in Paris in 2010 and the meeting in Delhi is a follow-up to the previous discussions on the issue.

The Paris has emphasised on the importance of a political mobilisation of all the partners in the Paris Pact.

The Paris Pact initiative is a partnership of More than 55 countries and international organisations are involved in the Paris Pact initiative to combat Afghan opiates trafficking, consumption and related problems and

international operational cooperation to disrupt the illicit flow of precursors which are essential to the production of heroin in Afghanistan.
