Japanese Envoy Vows to Complete Nakamura’s Projects in Afghanistan

KABUL - Japanese Ambassador to Afghanistan Mitsuji Suzuka on Monday pledged to complete projects launched by slain Dr. Nakamura in Afghanistan.
Addressing a gathering organised by the National Stability Association Japan envoy to Kabultermed the killing of Nakamura a huge loss.
According to reports, Japanese Humanitarian Worker Dr. Nakamura initially served the people of Afghanistan in medical and lately started irrigation and agriculture projects in Nangarhar and Kunar provinces.
Ziaulhaq Amarkhel, presidential advisor and head of the National Stability Association, termed Nakamura’s work in agriculture sector vital for Afghanistan.
“The enemy removed Nakamura from the people of Afghanistan, but it could never remove him from the hearts of the people of Afghanistan,” he said.
Lawmaker Malak Qais Noor Agha asked the government to arrest and punish the killers of Nakamura.
Last week, unknown gunmen opened fire at the vehicle of the Peace Japan Medical Services (PMS) chief, who was rushed to a local hospital. The NGO chief came under attack on his way to inspect a project
“Dr. Nakamura’s driver and four of his bodyguards were killed in the shooting,” said Attaullah Khogyani, the provincial government spokesman the previous day, adding the gunmen fled and police were investigating the incident.
Dr. Nakamura did a lot of works for development of agriculture, irrigation, healthcare and education and won people’s hearts. His services to the people earned him the nickname ''Uncle Murad." (Pajhwok)
