Laghman names new park after Dr. Nakamura

KABUL: A park will be constructed at a cost of seven million afghanis in the name of Dr. Nakamura in Mehtarlam, the capital of eastern Laghman province, an official said on Wednesday.
Asadullah Dawlatzai, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News that Governor Asif Nang and mayor were also present at the inauguration ceremony of the park project.
He said the park would be named after Dr. Nakamura who was shot dead last month in Jalalabad City, the capital of eastern Nangarhar province.
Dr. Nakamura did a lot for the development of agriculture, irrigation, healthcare and education and won people’s hearts. His services to the people earned him the nickname ''Uncle Murad”.
Laghman mayor Nazifullah Alokozai said the park was being constructed in Tafseli plan area of Mehtarlam Baba desert in ten acres of land. The park would cost 7 million afghanis.
Meanwhile, Governor Mohammad Asif Nang expressed his happiness over construction of the park in the memory of Dr. Nakamura.
