Kabul Electricity Chief Given  3 Weeks to Solve Problems

KABUL - Continuing his meetings with Kabul residents, President Ashraf Ghani on Sunday directed electricity officials to address power related issues being faced by residents within three weeks or risk their job.
President Ghani met with a number of residents from the 12th, 21th and 22th police districts and Bagrami district as part the “National Debate” program, a statement from the Presidential Palace said.
The statement said First Lady Rula Ghani and a number of government officials were also present at the meeting.
Notable among the residents were Safiullah Hotak, Mualvi Zainul Aabidin, Raqiba Barikzai and Mohammad Gul Hotak, who thanked the president for initiating such a debate and urged him to continue it for solving people’s problems.
Participants of the debate spoke about insecurity, robbers, education, schools, roads and streets construction, canals, hospitals, land grabbing, electricity outages, powerful individuals, women recruitments,  construction of ring roads with President Ghani at the Presidential Palace on Sunday.
President Ghani thanked the public representatives for discussing people’s problems with him. He said he had told the authorities concerned about their discriminatory behavior with residents east of Kabul and had asked the Kabul municipality to provide land to people for cemetery in the east part of Kabul.
He told the Kabul mayor to stop shifting garbage to the east part until devising a proper plan in this regard. He said the situation was intolerable for local residents.
President Ghani also ordered to Kabul electrify head to resolve peoples’ electricity issues within next three weeks otherwise his deputies would be dismissed soon. (Pajhwok)
