Kabul Residents Complain of Lack of Security

KABUL - A number of Kabul residents on Sunday said they are concerned about an increase in crime and lack of safety in the city.
The residents claimed that they witness armed robberies and murder almost every night.
The concerns are raised as a number of unidentified armed men killed Zakir Hussein, a security guard at a private company in Kabul, according to his relatives.
“They transferred Zakir Hussein and others to the room and when he tried to move, they fired,” said Bashir, a resident of the north of Kabul.
Some employees of the company said it is the eighth time that armed men have stolen their money.
“We have people in the firm that recognized the thieves and handed them over to the police, and they also told the police about the thieves’ home address, but they did not act,” said Ali, an employee of the firm.
The people said that if the government can’t provide security it should allow them to provide their security for themselves.
People said that the accident happened close to a police checkpoint, but the perpetrators escaped.
Ferdaws Faramarz, a spokesman for the Kabul police, said that they have started investigations about the incident.
“An initial investigation reveals that no stealing happened in the area, and the motivation of the killing is not clear. The incident is under investigation,” said Faramarz. (TOLO NEWS)
