President Says Pakistan Continues  to Aid Haqqanis

KABUL - Pakistan continues to give sanctuary to the Haqqani Network that is involved in attacks on US and Afghan security forces, President Ashraf Ghani alleged on Thursday.
The remarks from Ghani, who was in Davos to attend the World Economic Forum, contradictPakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan’s claim of eliminating all terrorist outfits.
A British wire service quoted Ghani as saying: “And you believe him. One can also say the earth does not revolve around the sun.This is a denial that is not helpful.
“We need a constructive engagement where the special relation between the Taliban and Pakistan ends. It is good for both countries and it is good for the region and the world.”
According to Reuters, the president said the Afghans desired an end to violence and wanted the Taliban to acceptthe political process.
There was no chance of his country collapsingif the United States pulled out its troops, Ghani believed, asserting Afghan forces’ capacity to defend the state. (Pajhwok)
