Daikundi Accidents Cause Nearly 100 Casualties in  10 Months

KABUL - Traffic accidents have resulted in 96 casualties in Daikundi province in the first 10 months of the current year, local officials say.
There have been 13 accidents in the province since the beginning of the year, killing 39 people and wounding 57 others, including women and children, according to provincial authorities.
Rahmatullah Ebrahimi, traffic chief for the province, told Pajhwok Afghan News the dead included 14 women, five children and 11 men.
Civilsociety activist Najibullah Najibalso tied increasing road accidents in the province to negligence of drivers,old passenger vehicles and lousy roads.
He called on the government to take serious measures to reduce traffic accidents, saying: "People have been victimsof the war on the one hand and lose lives to traffic accidents on the other."
Daikundi has rough geography and impassable and slippery roads, all roads. Every year, traffic accidents leave many people dead and wounded. (Pajhwok)
