Herat-Based Ghor  Residents Rally for Demands

HERAT CITY - Hundreds of residents of western Ghor province based in western Herat province on Monday staged a protest rally against what they called government’s negligence of their province.
Also on Wednesday, hundreds of residents of Ghor  shut all government departments, including the governor’s house, and accused the government of discrimination against their province.
The protestors closed the Herat governor’s house and chanted “Stop discrimination, we want justice, road and electricity are our rights, the government is paying less attention to our province.”
They said the government had forgotten Ghoris from the past 15 years and they faced discrimination.
A number of other residents of Ghor based on Herat expressed similar views and warned of continued protest
A day earlier, the protestors warned to dislodge the governor from his office in case their demands were not addressed.
Meanwhile, Governor Ghulam Nasir Khazi told Pajhwok that they had shared the protestors’ demands with the capital administrative and awaiting their response in this regard.
The Wolesi Jirga  approved the draft national budget for the current fiscal year last (Wednesday). Of the 428 billion afghanis, 289 billion afghanis have been earmarked in general spending. The development budget stands at 139 billion afghanis. (Pajhwok)
