Ghani Warns Companies to Reduce Internet Prices

KABUL - President Ashraf Ghani has asked telecommunications companies to reduce internet price otherwise their licenses would be revoked.
According to a statement from Presidential Palace, the president issued the warning during a meeting with residents of third, fourth municipalities and Paghman districts.
The visiting delegation demanded improvement in security, dealing with land usurpation, illegal armed groups, improvement of education, health sectors and provision of facilities such as clean drinking water, transport, reduction in internet price and protection of ulema and mosques.
“I inherited wasted opportunities. We will fulfill your demands according to the available resources. Your suggestions would be converted into practical programms and shared with residents of Kabul in a meeting at the Loya Jirga hall,” he said.
Referring to distribution of electricity to Kabul residents, he said electricity bills would be distributed to consumers after every month unlike the past which was after two months.
Referring to high internet price, the president said internet rates had reduced in the world but companies still provided the facility to consumers against the previous price.
He warned if companies did not reduce the internet price, their licenses would be revoked.
He also directed Kabul Municipality to coordinate with local elders and speed up development works. (Pajhwok)
