1,000 Pakistani Trucks Denied Entry into Afghanistan

PESHAWAR - Hundreds of goods-laden trucks are stranded on the Pakistan side of the Durand Line at Torkham border, officials say.
The Afghan government has barred the vehicles without route permits from entering the landlocked country. The route permit condition was set this week by Afghan border guards.
“About a thousand Pakistani vehicles carrying different kinds of merchandise have been denied entry into Afghanistan. They don’t have route permit,” a source confided to Pajhwok Afghan News.
On the other hand, the Pakistan embassy in Kabul and consulate in Jalalabad continues to issue route permits to Afghan transporters for entry into Pakistan via Torkham.
Confirming the new restriction, another official said trade between the neighbours had been affected by Kabul’s decision, which caused financial losses to transporters. (Pajhwok)
