NATO Defence Ministers to  Discuss Afghanistan

KABUL - NATO defence ministers are expected to discuss ongoing peace efforts in Afghanistan and reaffirm their commitment to long-term security of the country at an upcoming meeting in Brussels.
The NATO defence ministers will meet on Feb 12-13 -- the first ministerial-level meeting since the leaders’ summit in London in December, a NATO official said.
The first meeting will focus on all NATO-led missions and operations.
A working dinner, to be attended by new EU High Representative Vice President Josep Borell as well as Finland and Sweden, will offer an opportunity to discuss NATO-EU cooperation.
On February 13, ministers will confer on NATO’s overall deterrence and defence posture and progress in burden-sharing.
The ministerial meeting will end with a session on Afghanistan, to be attended by Resolute Support operational partners, Afghan defence minister, NATO’s senior civilian representative in Afghanistan, RS commander and representatives of the UN, EU andWorld Bank.
The ministers are also expected to discuss peace efforts and renew their commitment to Afghanistan long term security. (Pajhwok)
