Pentagon Funding Request for Afghanistan Hits 10-Year Low

KABUL - The US military has sought a $14 billion budget for 2021 for Operation Freedom Sentinel -- the lowest amount to be spent on the war in Afghanistan in 10 years.
The funding request for Operation Freedom Sentinel was made in the Pentagon’s fiscal year 2021 request, the Military Times reported on Tuesday.
The Defense Department has linked the decline in the budget request for Afghanistan to a potential; drawdown of troops from the war-hit country
If ongoing peace talks between the US and Taliban in Doha fail to produce the desired result, the funding request for Afghanistan could be jacked up.
“The Department will work with Congress on any budget adjustments as decisions are finalised,” says the budget request. (Pajhwok)
