US Pilot Rescued as AAF Plane Crashes in Baghlan

KABUL - A US Air Force pilot safely ejected from an Afghan Air Force (AAF) light attack plane before it crashed in northern Baghlan province, officials say.
The pilot, who was not named, was successfully rescued as another plane reached the site immediately after the crash, said the governor’s spokesman Javed Basharat.
Meanwhile, a USFOR-A spokesman confirmed the rescue of the pilot, who was on a training flight in an A-29 Super Tucano on Thursday when the crash happened.
Preliminary indications are that mechanical issues led to the crash in Doshi district, the USFOR-A spokesperson said in a brief statement.
Jointly by the Brazilian company Embraer and the US firm Sierra Nevada Corp, the plane was assigned to the Kabul Air Wing. (Pajhwok)
