More Than 350,000 Afghan Refugees  Returned from Iran in Six Months: Ministry

KABUL - More than 350,000 Afghan refugees returned home from Iran over the past six months amid coronavirus pandemic, Afghanistan's Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation said on Saturday.
They returned through Herat and Nimruz provinces, according to the ministry.
During the same period, 55,000 Afghan refugees returned from Pakistan, said Abdul Basit Ansari, media adviser at the Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation.
Authorities, however, said that the rate of returning of Afghan refugees from Iran has declined recently to 2,000 daily.
Some of the returnees complain about lack of shelter and the process of distribution of land to the returnees has also been delayed due to the pandemic.
Afghanistan’s Public Health Ministry has confirmed 36,036 coronavirus cases out of 86,166 tests it has carried out so far. There have been 1,247 deaths attributed to the virus. (1TV NEWS)
