Sherpao Wants All Stakeholders to Attend Afghan Dialogue

PESHAWAR - A veteran Pakistani politician has underlined the need for a holistic approach to pave the way for restoration of peace in Afghanistan.
Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) Chairman Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao, addressing a news conference in Peshawar on Saturday, stoutly supported efforts for peace talks in Afghanistan.
He urged all the stakeholders to participate in the long-awaited intra-Afghan peace negotiations to end decades of hostilities in the war-devastated country.
Sherpao, who has served as a two-time chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as well as interior minister, promised his party would continue to support the Afghan peace process.
He alleged Pakistan stood isolated in the comity of nations due to its flawed foreign policy. The country’s relations were strained with Saudi Arabia and China, he claimed.
The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor project had been placed on the back burner, he said, hitting out at the government’s incompetence and lack of vision.
A recent statement of the foreign minister on the role of Saudi Arabia in the Organisation of the Islamic Cooperation (OIC) would strain Pakistan’s relations with Riyadh, he warned. (Pajhwok)
