KHYBER AGENCY - The Pakistan custom office at Torkham on Friday sent back to Peshawar the tankers carrying commercial fuel for Afghanistan, administration official sources said.
The sources said that the action was taken after the circulation of a latter to custom officials from Pakistan's Federal Bureau of Revenue (FBR) asking them to halt export of commercial fuel to Afghanistan. Purpose of the decision was to ensure scarcity of petroleum products and to curtail the sky rocketing price hike of petrol in the country, the sources said.

More than 68 vehicles loaded with export fuel to Afghanistan were sent back to Peshawar, the sources said. When a customs official was contacted for his comment, he refused to share any information on the issue.

The common men in Afghanistan will certainly suffer severely if the government of Pakistan stops commercial fuel supply to Afghanistan, an Afghan national told the media.

It is important to mention here that Pakistan ha already suspended NATO oil supply to Afghanistan for the last one week in reaction to the aerial strikes of NATO copters at Pak army forces check post in Mohmand Agency that had killed about 26 security men. (Agencies)
