All-Afghan Talks: Kabul Asks Doha to Facilitate Media Reps

KABUL - The State Ministry for Peace on Thursday asked the Qatari government to support and facilitate media during direct talks between the Afghan government and the Taliban.
Najia Anwari, spokesperson for the Peace Ministry, said they had arranged a list of media outlet representatives to participate and cover the first round of intra-Afghan talks in Qatar.
She said media representatives had been tested for coronavirus and their information shared with the Qatari government as well, but a clear message could not be received from Doha in this regard.
“We hope that the Qatari government would facilitate media persons’ presence for coverage of intra-Afghan talks,” she said.
But Qudratulah Javed, an official of the Government Media Office, said that during a meeting between media representatives and government delegation for talks, it was decided that 15 media outlets’ representatives would be picked for the coverage of intra-Afghan talks and the media outlets would pay for their expenses.
