KABUL - President Ashraf Ghani has extended sincere congratulations from himself and the Afghan nation to Sri Lanka’s new Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa on the country’s successful general elections.
The Afghan embassy in Colombo, in a statement, hailed the new PM as a good friend of Afghanistan and strongly supported further expansion of Afghanistan-Sri Lanka relations.
The statement quoted Ghani as saying: “On behalf of myself and the people of Afghanistan, I am pleased to extend you our sincere congratulates on the recent successful election and your notable victory.
“I greatly appreciate the growing friendship between Afghanistan and Sri Lanka and our bilateral efforts to further expand our ties in the political, economic and cultural spheres,” he concluded. (Pajhwok)
