Afghan Civil  Aviation Authority Reports $4 MLN Decline in  Revenue

KABUL - Afghanistan Civil Aviation Authority on Saturday said it has seen a $4 million decline in revenue over the first six months of 2020, as compared to similar period last year.
Qasim Wafayee Zada, the head of ACAA, said that Ariana and Kam Air airlines incurred $3 million loss during the period amid the coronavirus pandemic.
He said that despite coronavirus pandemic and lockdown, 222 domestic flights took place carrying 44 passengers from one province to another.
He said that there were 412 international flights during the lockdown that carried 75,000 Afghans from regional countries to their home country.
On trade, the official said that 3,251 tonnes of Afghan goods were transported via air corridors to Saudi Arabia, Turkey and India during the first six months of the year.
He also said that 6 kilograms of gold, 3 million US dollars, 26 kilograms of drug, 817 light weapons and 75,104 banned items were seized at four international airports of Afghanistan in six months.
The official also said that airlines owe ACAA more than $30 million and they have been given a three-month deadline to repay. (1TV NEWS)
