Afghanistan, Fortescue Sign Five Agreements

KABUL - The Afghan government signed five agreements with Australian Fortescue Metals Groups Limited company, a statement from the Presidential Palace said on Thursday.
President Ashraf Ghani, Fortescue head, vice presidents and high ranking government officials were present at the signing ceremony.
Ghani thanked the Australian based company’s head for his visit to different government institutions and agreeing to work with the Afghan government in different areas.
The president remarked that a new model of development would be opened in Afghanistan with the help of Fortescue and by virtue of the model, Afghanistan would be put on a continued road to development like Singapore and China.
He hoped with cooperation of Fortescue, the fourth largest iron ore producer in the world, Afghanistan and Australia would reach their long awaited wishes and aspirations.
Fortescue Company Head Dr. Andrew Forrest said: “I want you to join me in a journey that could guide the people of Afghanistan toward economic prosperity.”
On behalf of his company, Forrest said he would like to serve the people of Afghanistan and empower Afghans to become economically independent and get them out of troubles. (Pajhwok)
