Ghani Stresses Security for People, Uplift Plans

KABUL - President Ashraf Ghani has underlined the protection of people, security for development projects and implementation of reform plans in defence and security organs.
Chairing a high-level meeting in Bamyan City on Sunday, Ghani also stressed the need for boosting security on highways and preventing extortion by the insurgents, his office said.
Heading a high-level delegation to Bamyan City on Saturday morning, the president and local officials, including the governor, reviewed the overall security environment in the province.
On his trip to the ancient city, Ghani was accompanied by the two vice-presidents, his national security advisor and other senior government officials.
At an extraordinary meeting he chaired, security plans and operations, ways of eradicating threats from the enemy and existing security challenges were discussed.
Security officials presented reports on the deployment of forces and urged effective steps to improve governance and service delivery at the district level. (Pajhwok)
