KABUL - The Energy Ministry in Tehran has devised a plan to meet Afghanistan’s electricity requirement, says the Iranian ambassador.
Bahador Aminian said while addressing the opening ceremony for "Water, Electricity and Renewable Energy Exhibition" in Kabul on Wednesday.
He noted the two countries had a whole host of opportunities to boost bilateral cooperation in different sectors of the economy.
“If Afghanistan wants to develop these ties, Iran will be the best option for it,” the diplomat remarked, saying the Afghan market was important for Iran’s private sector.
Afghanistan imported electricity worth $3 million annually, he said. “If the country offered a broader market for our goods, Iranian producers are ready to cooperate with their Afghan partners.”
In August, Iran announced increased cooperation on repairing power grids and upgrading transmission equipment in Afghanistan. (Pajhwok)
