Strategic Cooperation  Pact with Germany on Cards

KABUL - President Hamid Karzai and his German counterpart Christian Wilhelm Walter Wulff have discussed a long-term cooperation pact between the two countries, the Presidential Palace in Kabul said on Wednesday.
At their meeting in Berlin, the presidents also agreed on expanding bilateral cooperation in different spheres. Wulff hailed the 2nd Bonn Conference a sign of the Afghan government's active diplomacy.

He assured Karzai of Germany's assistance in implementation of the international commitments held out at the Bonn meeting, a statement from the Presidential Palace said.

Karzai called the conference, attended by 1000 delegates from around the globe, a grand event, thanking the German government and people for hosting it.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel announced her country would sign a long-term strategic cooperation pact with Afghanistan to help promote the Afghan economy, education and security forces.
