Kabul, Islamabad Asked to Remove Trade Barriers

PESHAWAR - Pakistan and Afghanistan have been urged to do all they can to remove hurdles to bilateral trade and economic relations.
The removal of the barriers would boost trade with Central Asian countries, the Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI).
Expanded regional trade would enormously contribute the country’s exports, SCCI chief Sherbaz Bilour told industrialists and traders here.
He hailed the two-day Pakistan-Afghanistan Trade and Investment Forum 2020 as a meaningful effort to open new vistas of trade cooperation between Islamabad and Kabul.
He asked the neighbours to evolve a joint mechanism for the business community in consultation with SCCI to strengthen bilateral and transit trade.
He reckoned the trade volume between Pakistan and Afghanistan could be enhanced to $5 billion if serious efforts were made by the two countries. (Pajhwok)
