Afghan-Turkmen  Gas Price Agreed

KABUL - The Afghan Ministry of Mines on Tuesday announced that Afghanistan and Turkmenistan have agreed upon the price of gas and transit fare as part of the "Afghan Trans" project.
The two countries have reached an agreement and soon the buy/sell agreement of gas will be signed between Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Pakistan and India in Ashqabad, the Ministry said.

After the agreement the gas pipeline from Turkmenistan will pass through Afghanistan to Pakistan and India.

Officials in the Ministry of Mines believe that this project will help improve security in the country and Afghanistan can get up to 5.11 billion cubic meters of gas.

The Ministry did not provide further details about quantity and transit fare.

"We have reached a agreement on most of the issues, the agreement will be signed in Ashqabad very soon," Jawad Omer, a spokesman for the Afghan Ministry of Mines, said.
